How do I start recording on Apple Watch?
Open the VoiceRefine app on your Apple Watch. Tap the microphone button to start recording. When you're done, tap stop — your recording will be saved to your Inbox and synced to your iPhone.
What is the Inbox?
The Inbox is a holding area for quick recordings from your Apple Watch or Shortcuts. These are "raw" captures waiting to be organized. You can later move them to a Session or fuse multiple clips together into a coherent note.
How does version iteration work?
When you add a new recording to an existing Session, VoiceRefine automatically passes your previous text as context to the AI. This means each new version builds on the last, helping you develop your thoughts progressively.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your notes and recordings are stored on your device and synced via your personal iCloud account. Audio files sent for transcription are processed transiently and immediately deleted — we don't keep your recordings.
Why didn't my recording sync between devices?
VoiceRefine uses iCloud to sync data. Please ensure you're signed into the same Apple ID on all
devices and that iCloud is enabled for VoiceRefine:
Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud and verify VoiceRefine has access.
How do I use Shortcuts to start recording?
You can create a Shortcut that triggers VoiceRefine's Quick Recording. Add the "Start Quick Recording" action from VoiceRefine to any Shortcut. You can then assign this to Action Button, Back Tap, or any other trigger.
Can I use VoiceRefine offline?
You can record audio offline. However, transcription and AI refinement require an internet connection. Recordings will be processed automatically when you're back online.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual notes or entire Sessions within the app. To delete all data, uninstall the app. If you want to clear iCloud data, go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Account Storage > VoiceRefine > Delete Data.
